in this case I just hit paste. this was a copy from imgur which provides bbc code for here.
But everything appeared fine
I hit post
then there was  no text it was microscopic.
so I highlighted everything and hit large text  12 pt..
and when I hit submit
the image was gone
so I had to come back and insert the image again.

it can happen on any paste.

I assume when you're copying and pasting, it might also be pasting some of the metadata from where you're copying. If "paste as plain text" is an option, try that. Otherwise, I assume your method of posting photos just isn't going to work here. I've always had fine success posting photos using the forums uploading methods, as long as I edit the file size appropriately. I'm really not sure what else to suggest.

no, it's not. I have taken the same and copied it into a VI editor (linux), I would be able to see the hidden code.
I have tried copying into a unicode editor also there's nothing there.
Something in the app is causing the code to be triggered on our side.

well, I've narrowed it down to copy and paste.

I just replied to a post.  my wording did not make sense, so I moved (cut) a word from the end of the sentence, to the middle (paste)
cut - control x
paste control v
I am using chrome (latest version) and windows.
those are normal cut and paste keys. I had size tags everywhere I cut and pasted.

So the copy / paste   / cut   are causing the issues.
Plain and simple.

i just right click and get the pull down menu to come up.  Select cut or paste, and it's done.

There's a very good chance that the forum software does not support key operation Ctrl X, Ctrl V for cut and paste.

lets see if it happens this time... first quote is right click, second is control v[/size]

I'm using Chrome. I'm not fond of MS stuff even though I have to use some of it for work.

Hmm that may be why I haven't been able to replicate the problem. I habitually use the ctrl c key combo, copy instead of cut.

I always use the key combos instead of right clicking.

The one that I did Ken's quote was using the right click, and using the control -c control v.
Both produced the size tags....

Rusty, what browser are you using?  This is not happening for me on only one computer, it's happening on 3 different computers.
I tried both chrome and long ago firefox... all with the same result.

Thanks for taking a look.

Browsers: Chrome, Chrome Canary, Firefox, Firefox  Beta, Yandex, Beta Yandex what ever Edge is in the most current insider's build.

My testing VMs use Debian, Fedora, Centos, Slack, FreeBSD, and Solaris 11.

Laptop is Mac about 3 versions back. Phone Android on a Samsung S9.

So it's kind of driving me nuts. When I get a chance I'll spin up a new droplet and replicate this build maybe it's something in the MySQL or PHP interactions.

The Garage Journal build is almost exactly the same as this one. Just MariaDB instead of MySQL and different data center and server.

One more piece of info Rusty, is that I don't see the size until after I post, or the tags if it fails to resize, but tags it until I read what I posted.

And thanks again... :)  or maybe I just give you this cheesy grin . ;D
