My Dad has been a life long automobile mechanic. The last 22 years he has been self employed in a shop he and I started. After a few years as partners I split off to pursue other intrest and venues. I still would hire out mechanic jobs as a side line, and use his shop.
Last April the owner of the building sold out (hes in his late 70's so we new it was coming).
The new owners plan was to bulldoze the building and develop the lot, along with the next door lot.
So by the end of May, all my dads stuff is sitting on trailers in his yard ( car lifts take up alot of trailers).
He could not find a new shop that was suitable for his needs, or had a reasonable rent rate, so he spiraled into a depression. A month ago, him and my Mom decided to move closer to my family, as I have their only grandchildren.
We spent 2 weekends moving most everything to my yard. He was going to try to find a building in my town, but same scenario as his town. In frustration fueled by depression he told me "Just sell all this crap!"
Fast forward to last weekend, I run into a cement contractor friend and on a whim, I ask him if he can pour me a 30' x 60' slab on my property. (Excellent road frontage on a fairly busy road a mile outside the C/L)
Long story short, Im waiting on the bank to give me the green light, and we will start on another shop building adventure!
My dads spirt has been lifted, and they have found a house very close to mine. If the good Lords willing, he will be back in operation by spring!
