So, fast forward to today.
All the uprights are pointing toward the sky.
My trusses are 20', and the span is 30'.
I have to cut, and weld 2 trusses to make one (thankfully I have enough trusses!!
I will weld rafter gussets before every thing gets put up, so it will just be a matter of standing up the "c" purlins and welding them solid.

A friend of my dads gave him a running 94 hot rodded firebird that had a smoked clutch. We put a clutch in it, and Im going to clean it up and set it out for sale to finance the roof.

I have an 05 buick 4-door that has a leaking rear main seal. Its going to get fixed, and sold to finance the walls.

Johnny Cashes song, "One piece at a time" is out theme song!😁

Pictures coming soon.

Pictures as promised!
The first picture is of where Im making 2 short trusses one long truss. I offset the welds for more rigidity, and I will weld in a flat bar over the welds just for added insurance.
The next pictures are taken as close to the same spot as I took pictures of the slab originally.
I had a man come in with a bulldozer and level off the front apron.
The plumbing van will get finished today, and the proceeds will go to buying some HF rolling scaffold.
Once I can get elevated, I hope the roof structure goes on quickly.

those trusses are pretty rusted, you going to sandblast them and paint them before they go up?
You going to use the new hoist on your truck to lift those babies up to where you need them?

They won't get sandblasted, just slathered down with some rust converter. I need them in the air ASAP because the 100 degree days in direct sunshine are about to melt me and my Dad! We have been starting early, and knocking off about 2p.m. I then go out around 6 and do a little clean up.

I have an extension boom I made to fit the loader on my tractor that will be used to hold everything up for welding.

S L O W ☹
The trusses are done and ready to hang, but with hurricane's blowing in rain, its been a "hurry up and wait" game.
The roof tin should get delivered this friday if the weather dosen't change things.

Well guys, due to steady paying work taking up all my free time, not much as been done.
We do have some progress though.
I have the trusses up, and 90% of the wall girts in the air.
I framed up an additional 12 foot "lean too" off the northwest side to eventually get dried in to make an office, and storage.
Things are going well.

The wind is blowing pretty steady today, with some mean gusts.
Putting the few panels that are showing has been a little spooky!

So, its been a minute since I have posted an update.
The roof and 3 walls are up, and in opperation!
The 2 auto lifts have been put together, bolted down, and put to work.
About a quarter of the electrical circuits have been run.
Half the air lines have been piped in.

Now the bad news. Progress has ground to a halt due to the cost of materials going into the "stupid expensive" range.

We have already been gathering used material for an awning off the front, and a 20'x45' add on to the rear.

Updated pictires to come!

Ya, materials are ridiculous... We're actually starting to lose jobs at work (construction) due to sticker shock...

Looking forward to the pictures sounds like your shop is taking shape.

Re cost of materials.  At my work we use lots and lots of nickel containing materials.  Stainless steel, resistance wire and such.
Last week nickel went from $12,000/ton to $93,000/ton.

That's a fact !
I watched the report, would have went higher, but they stopped trading.
BTW, any nickels in your pocket or change jar now have a higher melt value than 5 cents due to copper and nickel content.

Canada stopped producing pennies years ago for that very reason.

It probably went limit up. The maximum movement in a trading session. No one can get in or out in a limit up or down.
I'm sure that company came out on top big time.
