« on: November 28, 2021, 07:44:23 AM »
It seems my sons have bought a lot of tools since I have been laid up. My first thing to do will be to make a new home for them. I have designed a new 20 drawer chest to put them in.It will be made from cherry wood,all1/2 and3/8 thick. Now I have to find a way to post pictures here LOL. Stand by folks, to be continued.

 Approximately 14 deep x 35 high x 34 wide just a WAG

  8 drawers 1 1/2 x 10 x12

  2 drawers 8 x 3 1/2 x 12

  6 drawers 2 x 13 3/4 x 12

  2 drawers 3 x 29 x 12

 2 drawers 3 1/2 x 29 x 12

Don't sweat getting old, you'll still do dumb crap, just slower.

An Optimist will tell you the glass is half full, the pessimist half empty, the engineer will say the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

:sign0065:   Oh Boy what a tease!!   :85:    I was looking at a cabinet a few weeks ago...  fella thought it was a dentist tool box.  Stood about 5 feet high, maybe 20 inches wide (more or less) ,  and maybe about the same depth.. 20 inches.    I thought it might be a good box for all the small things we seem to acquire. Even drill bits could be sorted and stored in an orderly fashion..  but his price was way north of 500 bucks so I said no thanks..  But I'm always looking.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Still in the design stages. Now it will have 24 drawers. New size box will measure 36 x 36 x 14 That's a big machinists tool chest. The 3 additional drawers will measure 3 x 11 x 14 This is gonna take a lot of lumber. I will  hand pick all of it. If it isn't eye appealing it's not worth the effort.
  More designing to do LOL

I'm anxious to see some pix and follow your project.

It sounds like you're going to build a family heirloom.

If it helps anyone who takes photos with their phones - I've been using this app long enough I actually paid for it. It's how I resize everything I photograph.
Works very well. The free version has annoying ads, but still does everything you'd need.

Been to 4 lumber mills so far and only found garbage. I go to one in New Hampshire this weekend where they say there is a big turnover and choice.

MacBeath Hardwood in Berkeley California. I realize that this lumber store is not in your neighborhood…darn shame! If they don’t have it, you are probably not going to find it. It’s like a candy store to me. I could spend all day drooling in that place.

Their  HQ in Indiana will sell to me but I would rather hand pick if I can. Thank-you for the help.

Went into overtime last night on the design stage. Wrapped up this morning at 1:35 AM.

FINAL stats are 24 drawers. Sized to 14 deep x 37 wide x 41 high, you ain't moving it when it's full  ROTFLMAO It has to be this big because of 3 generations of tools that sit in 4 different chests at present. I just know in the end it won't be big enough.

I gotta get some sleep today. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
