Good news there.

It sounds like you got a bargain. Those numbers calculate to about 266 BF @ $4.13 per (unless I made a math error).  !AOK

3 boards 8" wide X 10' equals 20 BF I have 32 total. That's just over 200 BF or am I wrong??? Either way it was a steal. The sons want what I don't use.

I took 5/4 to mean 1-1/4" thick boards. So 8" x 10' x 1.25 = 8-1/3 BF per board x 32 = 266-2/3 BF.

I Googled BF and see that the board width and thickness are "NOMINAL" dimensions (not ACTUAL dimensions). That's probably at the crux of my confusion.

Obviously, I'm not a knowledgeable woodworker. Just trying to understand what's going on.

Sorry, my bad. I should have said he dropped the thickness to 4/4. Sorry about the confusion.

14 sheets of individual parts with just a few more to go. Once these are done I should be able to consolidate them into a 7 page set of plans The light is at the end of the tunnel,8 days of drawing behind me. Yes they are Pencil CAD, the only way to go as far as I am concerned. I won't finish today, the War Department just asked me to help her out. If I wish to finish this project I must do as she asks. LOL

I'm getting as bad as you know who here, I'm the only one talking.  LOL Preliminary drawings are all done. I'm going to go over them this week and see if I can start on the finish set next week. Been quite a journey so far. Should be able to start the build in January if I have everything together. I don't like to start a project if I don't have all the materials here. Don't like to reach a goal only to have to stop cause something isn't here. Be back later, I hope.

Quick question for you.. The "other" Bill - I loaned him the little Atlas mill..   what was his last name?  Do you remember?  I know he passed a few years ago, just couldn't remember his name!

Yes, he passed away from Cancer about 6 years ago. I will look his name up for you tomorrow. I used to go to his home once a week. I should stop by to see how his wife is doing, she got sick for a while. She took it real tough when he passed away. Thanks for the reminder Mike.
