Air quality
« on: June 06, 2023, 10:09:18 AM »
There's so many wild fires raging in Canada right now.. I found out yesterday they're only a few hundred kilometers from where we are. There's no risk it'll burn this way (winds and no connecting forests) but we are certainly dealing with the bad air quality. We have several air quality warnings constantly. It's recommended not to work outside...
Nutty... And summer hasn't even begun yet.

I’m in California. And those big summer fires in the past have had the same effect for me. They were many miles away, but still got ash fall out and no sun for weeks. Makes me believe firsthand the dinosaur extinction theory.

sorry about the bad photo quality, I can' shrink the dimension of the photo without tanking the quality. However, there's another treeline in that first photo you can usually see on the horizon. It's just completely fogged out. And I'd suggest that's only a few miles away.

Even for us down here in south Texas, we are getting lot of the fallout from the fires up your way, too.

Your first picture is how it looked at my house yesterday.  There are alerts posted regarding the bad air quality.  We had a "good" thunderstorm go through last night so today is so much better.  I always tell you thanks for sharing....  but this time you folks could've kept it to yourselves. It's worse today. There is soot falling now. We have no cloud cover this morning. And you can really small it.

Canada has a lot of fires every spring/summer, but they've never been this close to home.
We're at zero risk of being caught up, but it's still crazy.
There were moments this morning when the shadows/lighting were just right that I could actually see the plumes rolling by.
