oil can shelf

A friend need a place to store his cutting oil cans and with limited space he wanted the shelf to mount on the tail stock end cabinet.
It's made from scrap 16 or 18 gauge sheet. I thought since it would be mounted at hip level, rounded corners would be a nice touch.
The rear flange is a little taller allowing him to drill/mount the shelf to his sheet metal stand.
The four reenforced angle brackets are for his mini mill casters. They where Simpson ties that required a little beef.
The shelf held water so no leaking allowed  8) He keeps a cut to fit absorbing pad under his cans.

I found another photo of a drain catch I made for the same lathe  PM GT 1340. The open gear box will drain onto the lower cabinet. This allowed him to keep things clean. The plastic example in the left of the photo is what I had to duplicate. Only the ends are welded and as you can see from the penetration beads it also held water. The sides where broke on the apron brake.

Nice Fab work.  You definitely went the extra mile with the radii on the corners.  He owes you a case of beer eh!
