New type QCTP
« on: August 18, 2023, 10:14:52 AM »
Just ran into this video this morning about a new style QCTP from Dorian. Here's the video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hblxaVgyTJE
According to the video, they've been out for a while, but supply chain shortages is still impacting availability.
I haven't looked into the cost, available sizes, or current availability yet, just thought I'd toss it out here for awareness.

They are nice.  Better be sitting down when you hear the price on them.  Just the post alone is north of a grand for a BXA size post.  They are mostly made in USA just up the road from me.

Hey, you must remember, folks down here shoot first, ask questions later. Bury you next.  Go back to work like nothing ever happen.

The Dorian shop is out in the middle of a farm field the last time I looked.

Looks nice. Maybe an advantage is the indexing? Yes, my Aloris canít index. But I do have tool holders that are angled so I can leave the post alone and use an angled tool holder. On a blue moon I have also had to angle the tool post. You canít have everything, or can you?

Not new, but does anyone have or know anything about the Multifix tool post ?
I noticed that Abom79 and Clough42 of YouTube both have them and seem to really like them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vU0sbrHyNU

Initially, I thought about a new thread, but thought both the Multifix and the new Dorian seem functionally the same.
The original production company is not in business any more, but there a a couple knock-offs. One supposedly from Germany, possibly Switzerland, and China.

One thing I'm having trouble figuring out is the sizing nomenclature they use and figuring out what size(s) work for a certain lathe.
