Not Really an Issue but

Just a question.
What's normal for a lathe.  Start lever up for forward or down?.

Ooooh... The comfort in me wants to say down, but the risk management in me says up ..
It's always more comfortable to press down to start, but it's safer to be able to push down to stop.

I was used to my old lathe as it was up. My new lathe is down. I asked another guy he said most lathes are down. Then I watch a video of a well know machinist and his was up. just thought I'd ask.
I know it makes no difference but was curious.

Are we talking clutches or rocker switches?

All of the old lathes I ran in my past, down was on or forward, up was stop.  No reverse.  Generally had the reverse the motor to run backwards or the lathe did not have reverse!
