who do you worry about. the left or the right?

me both extremes... but the right has been responsible for more deaths than the left.
just the way it is.

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/politifact/

so you trumpettes, I worry more about you and your beliefs than others...  I also found it interesting that there is a left leaning group that has been duping the right wingers... just making up bizarre stories that people fall for hook line and sinker. They then laugh at how stupid and gullible they are.. since I don't do facebook, or conspiracy theories, I don't read it. But many of their bizzarre stories made up of course, even with a foot note that it's all fake, have been repeated by the president and followers... These are very left leaning people perpetuating this, and while they think it's funny to show how stupid people are, to me, its very destructive, because most people are so gullible.  The guy is averaging 15k in advertising a month, so he's not going to stop anytime soon, and since he has the statement that this is all made up and fake, he doesn't get blocked.

you've been punked probably by this guy.

Please leave me out of your political rants. The only person who has gained from my service is me. I have been called worse.

Of course if you are wealthy, there are more breaks for you in the coming year. Tax breaks..
But if you are not, or if you are a veteran, be prepared to shell out more money, because the funding for the VA will be down.

Trump said he passed a private-sector health care program, Veterans Choice, after failed attempts by past presidents for the last ď45 years.Ē Thatís not true. The Choice program, which allows veterans to see doctors outside the government-run VA system at taxpayer expense, was first passed in 2014 under President Barack Obama.
[/color]Trumpís VA secretary, Robert Wilkie, also is distorting the facts. Faulting previous ďbad leadershipĒ at VA, Wilkie suggested it was his own efforts that improved waiting times at VA medical centers and brought new offerings of same-day mental health service. The problem: The study cited by Wilkie on wait times covers the period from 2014 to 2017, before Wilkie took the helm as VA secretary. Same-day mental health services at VA were started during the Obama administration.

Flew our flag out on the water today and got at least 100 celebratory honks, high fives, thumbs up etc.    one sailboat, of course a sailboat load of masculine looking he-shes flying a rainbow booed  us.   But hey to each their own I got no issue with em.

Then we also have the statement that the men that served in Vietnam were suckers for not dodging the draft.

Sorry Bill Gruby, the president says your a loser...

if he says it, well you know.. it must be true right?

Jeff, I believe you owe Mr. Gruby a public apology, and I expect to see it here very soon.  Oh, and please don't test my patience on this one!

Gentlemen, we must remember that Machinist's Gazette does have a set of basic rules to follow. They can be found here: https://www.machinistgazette.com/index.php?topic=920.0     Please review that page and pay close attention to two things: our mission statement, and rule #1.  They are in effect across the entire forum, including the political section.

Please note that they both reference two words that are worthy of special attention:  'others' and 'respect'. Let's take a closer look at those two little words.

Others:  It means 'other people' which in turn means anyone and everyone. This means members of this forum as well as those who are not.

Respect: To have due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, dignity, or traditions of others.

Both of them are expected to be followed here by all members. Referring to other members as "trumpettes" is simply not respectful at all.

This politics forum is here so that people can post their views, but it must still be done in a manner that shows respect for others.  Attacking another member's military service and blaming it on what a politician said is UNACCEPTABLE. The next post thanking him for his service was about as genuine and sincere as Bill Clinton's statement about not having sexual relations with 'that woman'.

We are all grown adults here. It is time that we all start behaving as such. If this politics section cannot be used in an adult fashion where opinions can be offered and discussed in a proper manner, the staff may consider removing it altogether. I do realize that some people get more worked up than others when it comes to politics. Those who tend to get a little too excitable should maybe consider doing the following before posting: Collect your thoughts and jot them down. Determine what the valid points are and create your post from them. Finally, READ your post before you hit the 'post' button and make sure that it is written in a manner that is respectful toward others.

Remember gentlemen, your mamas aren't members here. They won't be watching over your shoulder or teaching you how to act, but please write your posts as though they are.

Bill,
While I was never called upon to fight for God, Country, and Family, I do remember the feelings and emotions running through the submarine, I served on, when it was announced we had received War orders while at sea.
I grew up in a time and place when parents taught their kids to respect their elders, those in uniform, and those that served. Even businesses gave preference to veterans and made allowances for those that went.
My father went into the Air Force (Korean era) shortly after being hired and the corporation not only kept his position for him once discharged, they counted time served toward his retirement.
Iíve watched over the years as this way of thinking has been eroded to the current state of affairs where, it seems, that few care, and even fewer understand the extreme sacrifices made by so many.
Regardless of all the political garbage and social sentiment, I, for one, will never forget.

quite the contrary. I think most do recognize the sacrifices, more so than in the 60s.
I think the country learned one thing about soldiers, you can't blame them for a war, or going to war.
The culture of the 60s blamed them.  And it's more complicated than that.
I think Reagan helped bring the country back together again.

Many of the younger generation do understand Afghanistan, and iraq.. they had brothers, sisters, cousins, friends that went. And some didn't return. My nephew came back and is a mess. He was a sniper, he thought it would be great to go and kill, he was immature...  He has paid the price.. He finally seeked help with a group before covid.  He has day work sometimes as help in construction, but still has no goal, or skills. I think he is 35 now..

Bill Gruby, there was never any disrespect meant to you. And if you read carefully  you will see, I did not say this, the president did.   As such, I guess I am out of here.

All respect to you Bill, to our president who said that... no respect
